For the 2023 “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” Met Gala, Olivia Wilde wore a Chloé dress that was inspired by one of Lagerfeld’s designs from 1983, according to Vogue.
The bodice and skirt of the white dress were connected by a gold violin that spanned from Wilde’s neck to her hips. Matching gold arm cuffs completed the look.
But Vogue China editor-in-chief Margaret Zhang arrived in a black version of the same dress, adding a billowy cape to the look. Anna Wintour has final say over every Met Gala final outfit, according to E! News, but it was unclear if Wilde and Zhang knew they would be wearing the same dress to the event.
The Evening Standard reported it’s the first time two people have worn the same ensemble to the Met Gala since its inception in 1949.
